Discovering Bali: 7-Days of Sun and Adventure in Seminyak

Bali, also referred to as the Island of the Gods, offers a stunning array of activities that seamlessly blend culture, nature and leisure. I am no stranger to this land, but if you plan to spend a week exploring the vibrant areas of Kerobokan, Canggu and Seminyak, you’re in for an unforgettable experience.

Here’s my guide to the top 10 things to do in these luscious regions of Bali.

Bali is an extraordinary destination, blending profound spirituality, breathtaking nature, exhilarating activities and vibrant entertainment. It caters to every type of traveller, offering moments of serenity in remote rice terraces and ancient temples, adventures on dramatic volcano peaks, surfing on sun-kissed shores, and lively nightlife. This 7-day Bali itinerary captures the essence of the ‘Island of the Gods’, ensuring you experience the best it offers.

Day #1: Arrive in Bali

Seminyak is always a popular choice, but after visiting Bali multiple times over the past few years, I wanted a change of scenery. This time, I opted for Kerobokan—a laid-back neighborhood perfectly situated next to Seminyak, offering easy access to its vibrant scene without the overwhelming buzz. After landing at Ngurah Rai International Airport, I checked into a charming boutique, Villa Kupu-Kupu, nestled in the heart of Kerobokan. Dropped our bags off and made our way to explore local delicacies for the day and that’s how we stumbled upon Warung Sobat II. That eatery became my place to eat every single day!

So, always keep day 1 light and easy. After a long flight and ride, all you want to do is re-energise yourself, drop off your bags and walk around the neighbourhood. Soak up the sun and relax at the pool.

Day #2: Culinary Delights

Explore Umalas and Kerobokan: Start your day with a visit to Umalas and Kerobokan, neighbouring areas known for their serene rice fields and quaint cafes. Have brunch at Monsieur Spoon, a charming eatery set amidst a lush greenery paddy field, and then wander through the local markets to pick up unique souvenirs.

Cooking Class Immerse yourself in Balinese culture with a cooking class. Learn to prepare traditional dishes like Nasi Goreng and Satay at a local cooking school. This hands-on experience is both fun and educational, and you’ll get to enjoy the delicious food you’ve prepared.

Here are a few options for you to try out!

  1. Monsieur Spoon Seminyak
  2. La Plancha Cafe, Seminyak
  3. Coffee Moodest & Kitchen
  4. Teras Padi Cafe, Ubud
  5. Bali Buda Cafe
  6. Milu by Nook * personal favourite
  7. Potato Head Beach Club
  8. KYND
  9. Warung Sobat 2 (for local delicacies)
  10. Menaga Cafe by the beachside

Day #3: Surfing and Spa

Surfing in Canggu Canggu is renowned for its surf culture. Head to Echo Beach or Batu Bolong Beach, rent a surfboard and take a lesson if you’re a beginner. The laid-back vibe and friendly locals make it an ideal place to catch some waves. That’s not all. Canggu and Seminyak boast numerous world-class spas offering everything from Balinese massages to rejuvenating facials. Book a session at Felicia Spa, Seminyak, for a blissful experience.

You won’t regret it.

Day #4 Potato Head Beach Club

Seminyak’s Nightlife: In the evening, explore Seminyak’s vibrant nightlife. Start with dinner at La Favela, known for its eclectic decor and delicious food. Then, head to Potato Head Beach Club for pizza, live music and dancing under the stars.

I had never been to a beach club before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Seminyak is full of them—essentially clubs right on the beach, where people lounge with drinks, soak up the sun and enjoy live music. Most places require a minimum spend to secure a spot, but once you’re in, you can stay as long as you want.

I chose Potato Head Beach Club, partly because it’s one of the most well-known spots in Seminyak, but also because—let’s be honest—I love potatoes, and the name intrigued me. Of course, the place had nothing to do with actual potatoes. Instead, it was all about sustainability, with a unique design made from repurposed materials.

I arrived in the late afternoon, found a cozy spot overlooking the ocean, and ordered a pizza. As the sky shifted from bright blue to soft orange, I sank into my book, occasionally glancing up to watch the waves roll in. The atmosphere transformed as night fell—the soft glow of lanterns, the sound of waves blending with the chill beats from the DJ, and the buzz of people unwinding around me. I ended up staying for hours, just reading, eating and soaking in the moment.

It wasn’t just about the club—it was the experience of slowing down, of truly being present by the sea.

Day #5: Local Handmade Craft Store

Shopping in Seminyak: Seminyak is a shopper’s paradise. Spend the day browsing high-end boutiques, art galleries, and local designer stores along Jalan Kayu Aya and Jalan Petitenget. Don’t miss out on picking up some handmade crafts and jewellery at Love Anchor and Canggu Centre.

Yoga in Canggu: Canggu has become a hub for yoga enthusiasts, with studios like The Practice and Samadi Bali offering classes for all levels. A sunset yoga session is perfect for unwinding and connecting with your inner self.

Day #6: Day Trip to Ubud

A day trip to Ubud is highly recommended. Ubud itself offers a plethora of attractions. The Sacred Monkey Forest, Ubud Palace and numerous art markets are must-visits. Each place carries a unique charm, reflecting the rich cultural tapestry of Bali. However, it was the Tegalalang Rice Terraces that left an indelible mark on my soul.

One of the highlights was a visit to a local warung (small café) perched on the edge of the terraces. Sipping on freshly brewed Balinese coffee, I gazed out over the sweeping vistas, feeling a profound sense of peace. The simplicity and beauty of life in Tegalalang were humbling and inspiring.

Day #7: Beach Hopping and Farewell Dinner

Beach Hopping Spend your final day beach hopping between Berawa Beach, Batu Belig Beach, and Double Six Beach. Each beach offers a unique vibe and stunning views, perfect for sunbathing, swimming, and beachside dining.

Farewell Dinner: On your last evening in Bali, treat yourself to a memorable dinner at one of Seminyak’s top restaurants. Book a table at Menaga Cafe for exquisite Indonesian cuisine in a stylish setting. Reflect on your amazing week as you savour every bite while overlooking the sea.

Bali’s Kerobokan, Canggu, and Seminyak areas offer a rich tapestry of experiences that cater to every traveller’s taste. From cultural explorations and eatery delights to thrilling adventures and serene moments, this 7-day itinerary will leave you with cherished memories and a longing to return to this island paradise.
